Student Fly-Offs
Each year, our partners and sponsors invite student teams to area EPIC Fly-Offs to see which team designed the airplane that will most successfully play this year's game.
Each fly-off consists of four components:
Airplane Inspection- requires that student teams present their airplanes for a flight check. Volunteers verify that the airplane conforms with the game design rules.
Display Board- provides an opportunity for teams to show design decisions that they made as they designed, constructed and tested their airplane. It also reinforces the importance of sketching, documenting, and analyzing test data. Display Boards are submitted on the day of the fly-off at check-in.
Game Task- is an opportunity for students to demonstrate proof of concept by flying their aircraft. Then, teams earn additional points for successfully playing this year's game.
Level-Up- is designed to keep kids thinking and help them earn extra points and in-game advantages.
And, don't forget to show your team spirit and compete for the Spirit Award!
At the end of the day, our sponsors and partners hold an awards ceremony to recognize our Spirit Award winners and the teams with the highest total scores.
